Punjab launches Rehmat Card for widows, orphans

The Punjab government has officially launched the Rehmat Card programme aimed at providing financial assistance to widows and orphaned children across the province.
Under the initiative, announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a total of 50,000 families will be included in the first phase of the scheme. Eligible beneficiaries will receive direct financial support through digital payment platforms.
According to official details shared by the government, widows registered under the programme will receive Rs100,000, while orphaned children will also be granted Rs100,000. The payments will be disbursed through JazzCash to ensure quick and transparent delivery of funds.
For registration, applicants can download the “CM Rehmat Card” mobile application or contact the government helpline at 1077. Authorities have also outlined strict eligibility criteria to ensure that assistance reaches deserving families.

Widows must have their status officially mentioned on their national identity card, belong to a low-income household, and must not already be receiving any form of government financial aid. Additionally, applicants must not be government employees or pensioners.
For orphaned children, registration requires a guardian’s details along with the child’s B-form. Applicants must also be listed in the PSER survey, and their mobile number must be linked to their national identity card for verification purposes.
The provincial government says the programme is designed to provide financial security to vulnerable segments of society. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has stated that supporting widows and orphaned children is a core responsibility of the state, adding that the initiative aims to strengthen their economic stability and ensure they are not left behind.
Officials describe the Rehmat Card as part of broader social welfare reforms focused on targeted financial assistance through digital systems.
